In 2008 good friends Joseph Ryan (Mink Mussel Creek), Nick Allbrook (Tame Impala, Mink Mussel Creek) and Jay Watson (Tame Impala) were sat under a mulberry tree in Daglish, Perth, where the they lived on Troy Terrace with their friend Kevin Parker (Tame Impala) who sometimes plays on and mixes their albums. Anyway maybe it was the Mulberry tree, the sunlight or something in their tea that morning that inspired them enough to write the tropical lo-fi psychedelic pastiche that became *Psychedelic Mango*.
The idea of Pond was to be able to get anyone they wanted to play whatever, whenever, in a completely ego free kind of trip all under the big obligation-less blanket of "Pond". This resulted in the next album, *Corridors of Blissterday* being recorded live with an 8-piece band in 5 days sometime in 2009.
Then I'm afraid to say they got too into Prince and Fleetwood Mac, so they accidently made pop funk classic *Frond* which was released on boutique Sydney label Hole In The Sky in September 2010.
Now you can buy their new album *Beard, Wives, Denim* they recorded in a farm down south of Perth, Western Australia. The fine folks at Modular Records thought it was such a great record they decided to release it worldwide in March 2012. Now Pond consists of the original three, plus our friend Cameron Avery (The Growl) on drums and Jamie Terry (The Silents) on keyboards.
